Veterans Guide for Academic Aid and Programs  For service members who served in a military at war for years, transitioning into civilian life can be challenging. This comprehensive guide from CollegeStats will help veterans and their dependents who are looking to take advantage of the many educational (and financial) assistance programs available to them.

Over 5 million post 9/11 service members will transition out of the military by 2020, but only 59% of them will receive financial aid in college. In an effort to connect students with military-friendly colleges and financial aid benefits, here are several resources:

These resources cover everything an active duty or retired service member could want for the college planning process, including; how to plan for college with expert interviews from people who have been there, how-to guides for financial aid applications, and a list of the most military-friendly colleges in America.

This is one small way for us to thank our veterans and military members for their sacrifice and commitment to our country.

How Does Trauma Affect Sleep?  Great resource guide from Tuck about trauma and sleep. It includes an in-depth look at how physical and mental trauma can affect the brain’s ability to rest. Because sleep is such a vital part of wellness, chronic sleep deprivation can make recovery difficult and increase the severity of physical and mental symptoms. Our guide also includes information about what to do if PTSD or a traumatic brain injury is causing insomnia or disturbed sleep.

Substance Abuse Resources for Veterans  Helpful information for veterans and the military community struggling with substance abuse. Many men and women who have bravely served our country are sadly left with painful memories they wish they didn't have. In many cases, veterans turn to drugs and alcohol as a way to deal with these thoughts, especially PTSD. Luckily, there are resources available to help. From The Recovery Village.
